How to Install Java on Windows Step by Step Guide

Introduction :

Java Development Kit (JDK) is software used to configure Java, as well as Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and Java Runtime Environment (JRE). JDK integrates the compiler and class libraries, allowing developers to build Java applications that are usable by JVM and JRE.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to install Java Development Kit on Windows.

Required :

  1. Windows 10 operating system.
  2. Network connection.
  3. Administrator rights.

Check Java is installed :

Before installing the Java Development Kit, check if the Java version is already installed on Windows. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open the command line by typing cmd in the search bar and press Enter.
  2. Run the following command:
java -version

The command removes the Java version from your system. If Java is not installed, the output is a message that Java is not known as an internal or external command. install java

Install Java on Windows 10 :

After downloading the installation file, proceed to install Java in your Windows operating system.

Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Launch Downloaded File

Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation.

Step 2: Configure Installation Wizard

After using the input file, the Input Wizard screen appears.



1. Click Next to proceed to the next step.

2. Select the destination folder for Java installation files or stick to the default path. Click Next to continue.



3. Wait for the wizard to complete the installation process until a Successfully installed message appears. Click Close to exit the helper.

 



Set Natural Variables in Java :

Set the Java environment variable to enable system integration in any index. To do so, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Add Java System Variables

1. Open the start menu and look for local variables.

2. Select the effect of system dynamics.



3. In the System Properties window, under the Advanced tab, click Area Variable …



4. Under the System Variables section, select System Variables and click Edit:

5. Click the New button and enter the path to the Java bin:

6. Click OK to save the changes and exit the configuration window.

 

Step 2: Add the Variable JAVA_HOME

Some applications require the JAVA_HOME variable. Follow the steps below to create variables:

1. In the Natural Variables window, under the System Variables section, click the New button … to create a new variable.

2. Name a variable like JAVA_HOME.

3. In the variable value field, paste the path to your Java jdk directory and click OK.

4. Confirm the changes by clicking OK in the Location Variable windows and System areas.

Check Java Installation :

Run the java -version command in the command line to make sure Java is properly installed:
